About us

Who we are

We operate on a simple belief: A hand up, not a handout.

Kat Kares is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization based in Georgetown, Texas, dedicated to providing essential services and compassionate, dignified support to men and women experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Williamson County.

In less than 18 months of operation, Kat Kares has mobilized more than 125 volunteers and established a comprehensive, multi-service model addressing the most urgent barriers faced by unsheltered individuals — from weekly hot meals and shower access, to hygiene supplies, seasonal clothing, employment connections, and personal recognition

Our approach

Our Mission
When gaps arise in the safety net, Kat Kares steps in.

It all started from noticing a gap in service and has grown from there. Our mission is to serve the unhoused population of Georgetown with dignity and compassion.

Our Partners
Kat Kares does not work alone. The organization has cultivated a robust network of community partnerships.

Local area churches, civic organizations, university groups, and healthcare education programs all assist and multiply our capacity to reach Georgetown’s broader service community.

We have partnered with St Paul United Methodist church, First United Methodist Church, Southwestern University, St Peter Lutheran Church in Wallburg, Faith Lutheran Church, Main St. Baptist Church, Texas state University – St David’s School of Nursing at Round Rock, and many more amazing community supporters!
